Chinese Cultural Arts

This programme offers a variety of hands-on and creative activities that let children experience the fun and beauty of Chinese culture while naturally developing their Mandarin communication skills.

Activities include:

Through play-based and experiential learning, children are encouraged to express themselves freely and create with confidence, making learning fun, engaging, and rewarding.

Lesson 1: Chinese Calligraphy

Time: 1:00pm to 2:15pm (min 4 children)

Children will be introduced to basic strokes and simple Chinese characters, practising with traditional Chinese brushes. This activity strengthens fine motor skills while fostering concentration and appreciation of Chinese characters and culture.

Lesson 2: Tea Arts & Clay Tea Set Making

Time: 1:00pm to 2:15pm (min 4 children)

Children will learn about Chinese tea culture and create their own mini clay tea sets. This activity encourages sensory exploration, creativity, and appreciation of traditional customs and etiquette.

Lesson 3: Chinese Opera Mask Art

Time: 1:00pm to 2:15pm (min 4 children)

Children will design and paint their own Chinese opera masks while learning about the meanings behind different colours and patterns. This activity sparks creativity and deepens cultural awareness.

Lesson 4: Chinese Idioms Role-Play

Time: 1:00pm to 2:15pm (min 4 children)

Children will act out classic Chinese idiom stories through interactive role-play. In a fun and engaging setting, they build language confidence, communication skills, and self-expression.

Lesson 5: Paper Cutting

Time: 1:00pm to 2:15pm (min 4 children)

Children will design and cut traditional Chinese-inspired patterns. Through hands-on practice, they enhance hand-eye coordination, creativity, and understanding of festive cultural elements.

Lesson 6: Shadow Play

Time: 1:00pm to 2:15pm (min 4 children)

Children will explore the traditional Chinese art of shadow puppetry by creating simple Journey to the West character puppets and bringing stories to life through light and shadow. Through this creative process, they develop imagination, storytelling skills, and teamwork.

Time: 1:00pm to 2:15pm (min 4 children)

Children will learn basic brush techniques and create their own ink paintings inspired by nature. With guided practice, they develop patience, focus, and artistic expression.

Lesson 8: Chinese Fan Dance

Time: 1:00pm to 2:15pm (min 4 children)

Children will learn simple and graceful fan dance movements. Through rhythmic movement, they improve coordination, musicality, and confident self-expression.
